Rigid Enforcement - Charts It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data.
Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.
- Sherlock Holmes

All data in these charts was sourced directly by Official Information Act requests to NZ Land Transport Safety Agency, NZ Police and NZ Dept of Courts.

Note:  In the Waikato Police District, police had run a trial of using hidden speed cameras from July 1997 until stopped as a failure by the Transport Minister in February 2000.  This is the reason for the very high number of speed camera tickets issued during that period.   It appears that the adverse impact of this prior trial on the Waikato injury statistics has partly masked the rise in injuries since 2000 shown in all other Districts.
